Organic vs. Synthesized Fertilizers

When it comes to fertilizing your garden, you have two main options – organic fertilizers and synthesized fertilizers. But what’s the difference, and which one is the best choice for your garden?

Organic fertilizers are made from natural sources such as plants, animals, and minerals. They are typically slow-release, meaning they provide a steady supply of nutrients to plants over an extended period of time. Organic fertilizers are also rich in micronutrients and beneficial microbes, which can improve the overall health and structure of the soil.

Synthesized fertilizers, on the other hand, are chemically manufactured and often contain a more concentrated form of nutrients. While they can provide an immediate boost to plants, they can also be more prone to leaching and can be harmful to the environment if not used properly.

So which one is the best choice for your garden? It really depends on your goals and priorities. If you are looking for a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly option, organic fertilizers might be the way to go. If you are more focused on quick results and have specific nutrient deficiencies to address, synthesized fertilizers can be a good choice.

Ultimately, the best fertilizer for your garden will depend on your specific needs and circumstances. Do your research and choose the option that works best for you and your plants.

It is important for plants to get enough nutrients to help with their development. Nutrients can be obtained from multiple sources including organic or synthesized.

Natural fertilizers contain lesser amounts of N-P-K (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) than their synthesized counterparts, which means that you would need to use more of it to feed plants with the required amount of nitrogen, phosphorus or potassium. However, natural fertilizers add vital organic matter and also improve soil texture which is important for the soil.

When it comes to enriching garden soil, the application of goat manure is an effective and sustainable method. This natural fertilizer can be directly applied to flower and vegetable gardens without the risk of burning plants. In fact, the high nutrient content of goat manure helps to improve soil texture, making it an ideal choice for those looking to improve the overall health of their garden.

Goat manure is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which are all essential nutrients for plant growth. These nutrients not only help to enhance the growth and development of plants, but they also promote strong root systems and encourage the proliferation of beneficial microorganisms in the soil.

In addition to its high nutrient content, goat manure is also a great soil conditioner. It helps to increase the water-holding capacity of the soil, thereby improving its structure and texture. This means that plants grown in soil amended with goat manure are more likely to thrive and produce higher yields.

Overall, the application of goat manure is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to improve garden soil. By choosing to use this natural fertilizer, you can help to promote sustainable agriculture practices and ensure the health and productivity of your garden for years to come.

Rabbit manure is a superior organic fertilizer, packed with nutrients that surpass those found in cow, horse, and chicken manure. Unlike other types of manure, composting is not necessary before use.

Rabbit manure is a valuable asset for gardeners, enhancing poor soil structure, drainage, and moisture retention, while improving the life cycle of microorganisms in the soil. Its nutrient profile includes high levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, minerals, and micronutrients, as well as beneficial trace elements such as calcium, magnesium, boron, zinc, manganese, sulfur, copper, and cobalt.

This manure’s high nitrogen content makes it a great choice for promoting strong green growth in plants. Additionally, it contains more phosphorus than other types of manure, which aids in the transformation of solar energy to chemical energy and helps plants withstand stress, contributing to bigger blossoms and root growth.

Rabbit manure is also abundant in potassium, which is essential for fruit quality and disease reduction, and for overall plant growth. Novice gardeners can benefit from this manure as it is low in sodium, ensuring that plants will not be burned.

Overall, the exceptional nutrient content of rabbit manure makes it a top choice for gardeners looking to boost the health and productivity of their plants. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, incorporating rabbit manure into your garden can be an effective and sustainable way to achieve success.

When it comes to improving soil texture, sheep manure is a highly effective natural fertilizer that can be used in a similar manner to goat manure. This type of manure can be applied directly to flower and vegetable gardens without the risk of burning plants.

Sheep manure is rich in essential nutrients, including nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. These nutrients are vital for plant growth, as they help to promote strong root systems, enhance growth and development, and encourage the proliferation of beneficial microorganisms in the soil.

In addition to its high nutrient content, sheep manure is a valuable soil conditioner that can help to improve soil texture. It increases the water-holding capacity of the soil, which in turn improves its structure and drainage. This means that plants grown in soil amended with sheep manure are more likely to thrive and produce higher yields.

Furthermore, sheep manure is lower in sodium than other types of manure, making it a safer choice for novice gardeners who may be concerned about accidentally burning their plants. It is also an excellent source of micronutrients, including calcium, magnesium, and sulfur, which are essential for plant growth and development.

Overall, sheep manure is an excellent natural fertilizer that can help to improve the health and productivity of your garden. By using this sustainable and environmentally friendly fertilizer, you can promote healthy soil and strong, vibrant plants, while also supporting eco-friendly agriculture practices.

Sargassum is a type of seaweed that is commonly found floating on tropical oceans. Despite being relatively low in nitrogen, it contains high levels of nitrate (NO3) and ammonia (NH4), making it an effective natural fertilizer for plants.

The high nitrate and ammonia content of Sargassum seaweed can help to promote healthy plant growth, as these nutrients are essential for the development of strong root systems and vibrant foliage. Moreover, seaweed is known to contain a variety of micronutrients, including iron, zinc, and magnesium, that are necessary for optimal plant health.

Although seaweed can contain a high level of salt, there are several methods for reducing its salt content before using it as a fertilizer. For instance, washing the seaweed with fresh water can help to remove excess salt, while drying and shaking or scraping can also be effective in reducing the salt content. It’s important to note that excessive salt levels can have negative effects on plant growth, so it’s essential to ensure that the seaweed is adequately prepared before use.

In addition to its nutrient content, Sargassum seaweed is a sustainable and environmentally friendly fertilizer option. Unlike synthetic fertilizers, which can be harmful to the environment and contribute to soil depletion over time, seaweed can help to enhance soil fertility and promote healthy, sustainable agriculture practices.

Overall, Sargassum seaweed is a valuable natural fertilizer that can benefit a wide range of crops and plants. By incorporating this nutrient-rich seaweed into your gardening routine, you can promote healthy plant growth, improve soil fertility, and support eco-friendly agriculture practices.

LIQUID Fertilizers:

Generally, liquid fertilizers are used for foliar feeding and can be applied by using a water can or sprinkling over the entire plant making the nutrients available almost immediately.  In this way the plants absorb the nutrients through the leaves rather from the root system. If the liquid fertilizer is used with a fertigation system, directly into the soil, they will absorb the nutrients through the root system, but at a quicker rate than if it was in granular form. Organic Liquid fertilizers are generally concentrated and need to be diluted with water.

Liquid fertilizer, when used as a foliar spray, should be done in the cooler part of the day to prevent leaf burn or sun-scald.  Early morning, late afternoon or even overcast days are best time to apply it.

Instructions for Using The ARK Organics Liquid Goat and Sheep Fertilizer:

Unleash the power of nature with our organic liquid goat and sheep fertilizer. To optimize its benefits, follow these guidelines:

  1. Dilution: Our fertilizer is a potent concentrate and should be diluted before application. Start with a ratio of 40-50ml (about 2.5-3.5 tablespoons) per gallon of water. This concentration can be fine-tuned based on your plants’ needs and soil fertility levels.
  2. Coverage and Frequency: A 50ml/gallon dilution yields approximately 100 gallons of nutrient-rich solution from a 5L bottle. This amount should suffice for about 1 acre of land per application. Depending on soil fertility and plants’ nutritional demands, a 5L bottle can serve a one-acre farm for 1 to 2 weeks. Apply this mixture to your plants every 1-2 weeks during the growing season. Commercial growers seeking quicker results can feed plants daily or weekly with a weaker solution and adjust as necessary.
  3. Timing: It’s best to apply the fertilizer during cooler parts of the day, like early morning or late afternoon. Avoid using it in harsh weather conditions (extremely hot or cold).
  4. Application: Distribute the fertilizer around the plants or spray it onto the leaves, ensuring ample coverage. Watch out for nutrient deficiencies (pale or yellowing leaves, slowed growth) or over-fertilization symptoms (yellow or brown leaf tips), and adjust the concentration accordingly.
  5. Watering: Post-fertilization, thoroughly water the plants to aid nutrient absorption and prevent root damage.
  6. Repeat: Consistent use of our natural fertilizer throughout the growing season will ensure healthy, vigorous growth.
  7. Storage: Keep the fertilizer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and pets. Ensure the lid is tightly sealed to prevent evaporation or contamination.

While our organic fertilizers are naturally safe, we recommend trialing them on a small group of plants before widespread use. This approach allows for adjustments to suit specific plant and soil needs.

DRIED Fertilizers:

Our dried fertilizer infused mulches can be used to help retain moisture in the soil and discourages pests and weeds.

  • Apply around the based of the plant as required to cover the targeted area.
  • Water as usual or let rain help to work the fertilizer into the soil.
